Wyong Hospital Critical Care

The Central Coast is located on the east coast of New South Wales, situated north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. It consists of Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils. With currently 843 hospital beds, Central Coast Sector (CCS) meets the health needs of over 300,000 people in one of the fastest growing regions in the state.

The Central Coast Sector is part of Northern Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH) and comprises of three hospitals - Gosford, Wyong, Woy Woy and one Health Care Centre at Long Jetty. In addition there are a nine community health centres located throughout the Central Coast.

GOSFORD

Gosford Hospital is an affiliated Teaching Hospital of the University of Newcastle with 484 beds and is the main acute hospital. It is equipped with a 24 hour Emergency Department and operating theatres. It also has a fully equipped Intensive Care, Diagnostic Cardiology, Coronary Care and Maternity Units, with all major specialties represented except Immunology, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

WYONG

Located 30 kms north of Gosford, Wyong is one of the fastest growing Council areas in NSW. Currently Wyong Hospital is undergoing major redevelopment with new facilities recently opened. Wyong Hospitals has 274 beds comprising Aged Care, Low Risk Maternity, Rehabilitation, Medicine, General Surgery, Drug Treatment Centre, and Mental Health.

WOY WOY

Woy Woy Hospital is 18 kms south of Gosford. The hospital has 63 beds comprising a 33-bed general medical ward, and a 30-bed rehabilitation unit which caters for all ages.

LONG JETTY HEALTH CARE CENTRE

This is a 30-bed sub-acute inpatient facility, of which 20 are non-acute facility beds. Services include: Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services, General Medicine, Palliative Care, and Sub Acute Care.  There are local general practitioners manage the care of patients.

Accommodation available/type:

At Wyong Hospital, there is no on-site accommodation available, however you can apply to Gosford Hospital where staff accommodation is available.

NEW GRADUATE NURSE PROGRAM

Northern Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH) is proud to once again offer its New Graduate Nurse Program.  The facilities include:  Hornsby, Gosford, Macquarie, Manly/Mona Vale, Royal North Shore, Ryde, Woy Woy and Wyong Hospitals, Long Jetty Healthcare Centre, Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service, Hope Health Care and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney.

NSCCH acknowledges that nursing is a diverse profession and that is why we have responded with a New Graduate Program which meets the diverse needs of our nurses.

Does our new flexible, individualised tailored New Graduate Program meet with your tickof approval?

  • Full time and part time positions available!

  • A 9-12 month program

  • A five-day orientation program (including supernumerary time in the first rotation)

  • Five paid and salary-replaced days to be used for educational learning experiences throughout the year (pro rata for part time staff)

  • Individualised clinical and professional development pathway, incorporating clinical placement preferences and relevant learning experiences within service requirements

  • Optional rotations (variable length) within each of the four sectors, depending on individual learning needs and interest

  • Direct entry programs offered to Mental Health, Critical Care, Cardiac and Operating Suite, where places are available

  • A supportive learning environment, including use of learning packages, learning contracts and portfolio development

  • Support from program co-ordinators, preceptors, educators, and clinical experts in all clinical areas

  • Performance development system, with meetings every 3 months (minimum)

  • Continuation of employment following completion of program, plus ongoing access to career advice and planning

  • 2 weeks scheduled annual leave

  • Accommodation available

Wyong Hospital - Critical Care

Wyong Hospital is part of the Central Coast Sector of NSCCH and offers an educational and support program to New Graduate Nurses who wish to gain experience and education within the field of critical care nursing.

At Wyong Hospital, clinical rotations may include Cardio Respiratory, Coronary Care Unit, Emergency Department and Mental Health.
