Sydney's world famous northern beaches incorporate approximately 25 kms of the most spectacular coastline in the world. A favourite tourist destination, this is a relaxing environment to enjoy our beautiful sunny weather and natural attractions. Fringed by vast areas of natural bushland, pockets of untouched rain forest, pristine surf beaches, great shopping and a vibrant nightlife.

Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals and Community Health Services offer a 12 month Support Program for New Graduate Registered Nurses.  Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals are part of Northern Sydney Central Coast Health and provide a wide range of services to the Northern Beaches.  Both hospitals enjoy a vast level of community participation and a warm and friendly working atmosphere.

Manly Hospital, with 185 beds (adjusted seasonally), is set on the edge of Sydney Harbour National Park close to famous Manly beach.

Mona Vale Hospital, set in spacious grounds, has 145 beds (adjusted seasonally), and is positioned right on the beach, with spectacular views of the coast and the adjacent golf course.

Our services include:

Emergency, Intensive and Coronary Care, Operating Theatres and Recovery, General Medical and Surgical Units, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Maternity, Mental Health, Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit, Stroke Unit, Emergency Medical Unit, Day Surgery, Oncology Clinic, Drug and Alcohol Services and Community Health Centres.

Clinical rotations may include:

New graduate nurses are given the opportunity to select an elective/specialty placement within the Northern Beaches Health Sector Program.  These include paediatrics, maternity, operating theatre, community, mental health and rehabilitation.

The proposed intake dates/months are 29 January and 12 February (not 26 February as previously advertised), 2007.

Accommodation available/type:

Yes, single room / share facilities style accommodation is available for the duration of the New Graduate Program.

  • Both hospitals are easily accessible by public transport – bus and ferries.

NEW GRADUATE NURSE PROGRAM

Northern Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH) is proud to once again offer its New Graduate Nurse Program.  The facilities include:  Hornsby, Gosford, Macquarie, Manly/Mona Vale, Royal North Shore, Ryde, Woy Woy and Wyong Hospitals, Long Jetty Healthcare Centre, Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service, Hope Health Care and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney.

NSCCH acknowledges that nursing is a diverse profession and that is why we have responded with a New Graduate Program which meets the diverse needs of our nurses.

Full time and part time positions available!

A 9-12 month program

A five-day orientation program (including supernumerary time in the first rotation)

Five paid and salary-replaced days to be used for educational learning experiences throughout the year (pro rata for part time staff)

Individualised clinical and professional development pathway, incorporating clinical placement preferences and relevant learning experiences within service requirements

Optional rotations (variable length) within each of the four sectors, depending on individual learning needs and interest

Direct entry programs offered to Mental Health, Critical Care, Cardiac and Operating Suite, where places are available

A supportive learning environment, including use of learning packages, learning contracts and portfolio development

Support from program coordinators, preceptors, educators, and clinical experts in all clinical areas

Performance development system, with meetings every 3 months (minimum)

Continuation of employment following completion of program, plus ongoing access to career advice and planning

2 weeks scheduled annual leave
