Program

Acknowledging that nursing is a diverse profession NSCCH has tailored the New Graduate program to meet your individual professional development needs. The program is flexible and we will help you design your individualised clinical and professional learning pathway.

A supportive learning environment

A supportive learning environment is our aim. This is achieved through your interaction with some key support people throughout the program. You will have access to New Graduate Coordinators, Nurse Educators, Staff Development Educators, Clinical Nurse Educators, Preceptors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nursing Unit Managers and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Opportunities for clinical rotations

Whilst we acknowledge some New Graduate Nurses know where they’re heading and want to work in one clinical area, alternatively there may be some who are undecided about their area of practice and want to experience further clinical specialties prior to finding their niche. Rotations are not prescribed. Specialty clinical placement offered include: Acute Care, Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Community, Critical Care, Maternity, Mental Health, Operating Theatres, Pediatrics, Palliative care, Surgical - out patients Department, 23 hour ward(not preadmission), Medical - Drug and Alcohol, Radiology and Medical Assessment Unit.

Performance review and development

A performance review will be conducted on each rotation. The performance review process allows you to reflect on your practice and identify your learning needs. This enables you and your manager to develop learning strategies designed to enhance your performance.

Annual leave

2 weeks annual leave is available within your program.

Accommodation
